New Series ~ A Rough Draft ~ Available June 11, 2019!

A Heart Valley Romance
Book 1

All Kayla Cash has ever dreamed is to be a writer. Her quiet little house, nestled in the Rockies of Wyoming, is the perfect inspiration for her novels. That is, until a new neighbor moves in and turns her serene piece of property into a construction zone. Her tranquility is further rocked when she finds the one making all the racket is none other than the one that broke her heart, Sawyer Evans.
To Sawyer, Kayla is the one that got away and he can’t shake the feeling that moving next door to her is his chance to, not only make amends, but to win her heart again. He could only hope living next to Kayla in a place called Heart Mountain was more than just a coincidence.
Kayla must decide how to write the ending to her own story. Will she risk letting Sawyer into her heart again, or will he forever remain a rough draft?

Flash Fiction: Still Waiting

She sat and stared out the icy window.  The sleet fell heavily and she knew the roads would be treacherous.  Biting her lower lip she thought about the last time she ventured out in a storm.  She flinched at the flashback of crushing metal as the smell of burning oil assaulted her nose.

Glancing at her watch she knew he'd be worried; worried that she wouldn't come, that she didn't love him.  The message was clear: meet him tonight or lose him forever.  Her stomach dropped at the thought of life without him.   She sighed, longing for his big arms to hug her and make everything fine.

Surely he would understand?  The roads were a mess. He wouldn't want her to get hurt.  Grabbing her cell phone she prayed for service. Still no signal.  Walking to the kitchen she picked up the landline. No dial tone.  Why had she made things so complicated?

Grabbing her coat she knew she had to go.  Living without him was not an option. She would brave the storm and pray that he was still waiting.

OKWB Challenge: Love

I'm participating in the Oklahoma Women Bloggers Challenge "For the Love of Blogging" this week, today the topic is love.

I am lucky enough to have found my soul mate. The Hubs is by far the greatest husband and father a girl could ask for. I thank God every day that I have been blessed enough to have this man in my life. Is he perfect? No. But he is perfect for me and the story of the day we got engaged is testament to that.

We were in California to see The Hub's parents, they live just south of Yosemite National Park aka beautiful country. One morning, The Hubs asked if I wanted to go for a hike, he had a special spot he wanted to show me. Of course, I said yes--I love hiking and the fact this man, I loved, wanted to show me a special spot made it all the more intriguing.

We hiked for about 15 minutes before coming to a huge rock outcrop overlooking a waterfall. It was beautiful. We sat on the rock and watched the sun rise. Just as the sun crested over the mountains The Hubs pulled out a gorgeous solitaire wrapped in white gold.

Cliché or not, I couldn't stop the tears as I said yes to his next question, which was (as if you haven't already guessed) if I would marry him.

OKWB Challenge: Musical Muse

I'm participating in the Oklahoma Women Bloggers Challenge "For the Love of Blogging", today the topic is music.

I love music. In fact, I love all types of music (except for jazz, jazz is meant for elevators and supermarkets only). I will set my player to shuffle on my entire music collection while working in my office and it'll play everything from Katy Perry to Mumford and Sons to Jay Z to Bach.

But music plays a much bigger part in my life than just filling the silence. Music is my writing muse. I can't write a novel until I have that manuscript's song. Setting the player to shuffle is my way of finding that song. I'll be working on the outline or doing other paperwork and the minute the right song comes on the story starts to flash through my head like a movie preview.

I actually started writing Return to Quail Crossings before I found my muse song and ended up having to start over. Sounds drastic, I know, but the muse is like that... she's a bigger diva than Mariah Carey.
What's your favorite song?
